In KCS Program, KCCI Certified Reductions (KCRs) would be made for the certified reduction, so that 1 KCR means one equivalent ton of carbon dioxide reduced or removed from the atmosphere.

Principles of KCS

  • Authenticity

Whether organizational boundaries and emission sources are all identified

Whether approved methodologies are followed, consistent calculation methods are applied, quantifiable and can be monitored

  • Additionality

Whether additional efforts have been made to reduce the carbon

    ① Reduction beyond legal/institutional regulations
② Reduction beyond the universal level

  • Sustainability

Whether the effects of carbon reduction are sustainable in the long term
  • Verifiability

Whether quantified verification of certified reduction is possible

Whether the data has been reviewed objectively by 3rd party auditors with qualifications

  1. 1. The methodologies/PDDs/monitoring reports are evaluated according to the KCS.

  2. 2. The methodologies/PDDs/monitoring reports requires verification by a third-party auditor.

  3. 3. The methodologies/PDDs/monitoring reports requires a final approval from the Certification Committee.
